Apply the FIVE Essentials for Business Growth:

The Unbelievable

The goal is to have customers say; 'WOW, how do they do that?" - with Service?  Speed?  How do they Out-Care everyone?  - with Price?  Convenience?  Free?  Support?  Knowledge?  Make them scratch their head in wonder about something every day, week, month.... year.

The Invitation

Each invitation must be Unique & Personal each and every time. The more unique and personal your invitation becomes the better chance of receiving a response.  Don't blast, don't treat everyone the same.  Automation is helpful to getting more done but can also send the message of "you are not important".

The Leader

A leader must have highest skill & will.  Without a leader in place who can, and will, drag the business behind them vs. the other way around, any business will flounder.  If a business is being managed by someone who struggles to keep up with the current business volume and flow, how will that same person have the ability to double business over the next two to three years?

The High Tech

Include the latest and greatest high tech to leave the competition behind.  Technology keeps a small business ahead of large business.  In larger businesses, barriers from logistics, lack of capital may exist.  Changing systems and processes can be slow.  Keeping the latest technology integrated in the business ensures better data, improves decisions, overcomes service barriers to WOW the customer and improve efficiencies.  Technology can make a business look like a winner and people love to be a part of winning, successful teams.

The Mind Set

"Good" today is not good enough tomorrow!  Even as you execute today someone is becoming unimpressed, bored or another business is preparing to improve on what you offer and leap frog whick will pull attention away from you.  Seth Godin offers this:  "Good" is not good enough.  "Good" is boring.  Where is your purple cow?

Apply these essentials to grow your business and avoid the slow death other business are destined to suffer due to their lack of action.

Which of these essentials does your business include?  Review your business to review which essentials are missing. As you do so, the next step would be to understand the barriers and "why".

If your business plan includes:

  1. Do what other businesses are doing.
  2. Do saturation marketing share the same message to everyone.
  3. A leader who is hard working and only maintain status quo.
  4. No investment of time, resources, effort or training in technology.
  5. Good quality and service equal to others in your industry.

Then I would get some business band-aids and buy business sadness flowers to prepare for the eventual business hospital.  You can then call the very expensive business doctor to give you business drugs and business therapy.  You would say, "If only I had put the five essentials to business success on the wall as a constant reminder, I would not be in the crummy business hospital getting tests from the business doctor who overcharges for everything."

Do you disagree?  Take a look at the business success in companies you are aware of.  How many of these essentials do you see?

In a world that is changing rapidly, these five essentials to success give any business or entrepreneur an advantage to do more than "be good".

Greg, Good thought. Each decision is a Y in the road. Is it good for business? is a good question vs. "Will this make me feel better, be easier, etc" Which could be the path to failure. Thank you for your thought. Mike

We're starting our own marketing division to a popular yet not so well known caterer, soon. Am not educated in today's economy or the stressors today's actions can bring tomorrow. Need business software, (ACT) and any other you think may help. Need all the help we can get.
Thank you, Jeanne
