If the future success depends on constant innovation, training a team, presenting ideas, pursuading or making a point; tools such as Gliffy can be the answer.

Soon enough iPads and look-a-likes will be the primary method for people.  As the computer tablets become more common, the online tools such as Gliffy will be absolutely necessary.

For brain storming, mind mapping, organizing and planning, I use PersonalBrain.  PersonalBrain is now also in the cloud.

As an early (and former) Gliffy user, I agree that it can be a useful tool. What's interesting about your comment about the iPads and similar tablets is that Gliffy has actually said they don't plan to support these devices since they see them more as devices to consume, not to create. Bummer.

Over the past year or so, I've decided to try the other online applications to see how they stack up against Gliffy. Hands-down, my favorite is LucidChart. What's really fun about it is that it has collaboration (just like Google Docs) so lots of people can be on the same document at once.

Have you seen this one, Mike? Would love to see a more detailed review of what you think about it.

John,

If you were in the room, I would throw you dark chocolate for your contribution and thoughts. thank you.

hmmmm... missed that one about the Gliffy vs. ipads.

I suppose it depends on what your crystal ball says.

Mine says when you have two people standing side by side, sharing a picture / graphic / idea will go from the napkin to the tablet at restaurants. (or from placemats for the bigger ideas)

When the dust settles, there will be the top three tablets? Or will it become like cell phones and fancy mobile devices where there will be hundreds of options?

"no plans" will not be an issue as the tablets become more dominate.

At first I was going to take my top ten choices for similar software. Unfortunately, that is a large project and would be more of a whitepaper than a blog.

I dialed back and used Gliffy to make the point.

Yes to LucidChart. and yes... that will certainly be one to chat about. Unless someone wanted to jump up and volunteer with a guest blog post. :) hmmm... any takers?

thank you again for your contribution.

Thanks for sharing! I'd add the option I've found recently - http://my.origramy.com/index.html. It's free online service for digram building.
