Health Club in Auburn WA has me Seeing Things

health club auburn WA blog

It's been a week since I started working on my weight loss goal at the Biggest Loser VI competition in Vision Quest - Auburn, WA

After a very robust exercise workout, it was time to go to the grocery store today.  There was no doubt that it would be tempting.  I love Ghiradelli Chocolate.  When I passed by, I found I did not see the chocolate.  Instead, as I looked at the box, a vision of exercise equipment was overlayed in my head.  The thought was:  "Sure, go ahead, but don't forget you only have to work out an extra hour for the treat".  Since I have not yet fallen in love with pushing, pulling, lifting, and pedaling I felt it best to avoid the chocolate aisle and continue on.

I have heard people talk like this but these have never been my thoughts.  I have become one of them.

It is interesting how a new goal and commitment along with a little education about calories can make you look at food not as a delight, but as a barrier to a goal.

Week one; my little bathroom scale says I have lost a pound.  More importantly, I am actually feeling a bit better than a week ago.  Sticking with the supplements without fail, though I did stay at the hospital on Monday as Mom recuperates from knee surgery.  So, she too will be exercising just like me.

I wonder if this eye disease that has caused my eyes and brain to see calories and my body to work out more will be a permanent thing.

Here is a very interesting thing about my hunger.  The only two days I was hungry were those when I stretched out the time between meals. (Schedules can be tough.)  Otherwise the little trick of eating less quantity more often (5 times daily) has proven to be very helpful.  In fact, I would say I prefer this for comfort.  I wonder if a company would give 2 lunch breaks if they knew how much better their employees would feel?

Take Aways today:

  1. Feeling better than a week ago with increased energy and alertness.
  2. Food looks like exercise equipment now. (Probably a good thing.)
  3. Not hungry except when I push the time between meals longer than the plan allows.

I like the sideways picture of yourself, but it looks incomplete. Aren't you supposed to be holding a plaque with your name one it, the date you were "arrested" by the gym, and the name of the facility?

I had a plaque but I had to take it off because it took away from my beauty. :) That was very funny. Thank you for the laugh. Mike

I was looking at your supplement plan and I saw, 1 Fat Bum 1.....I thought to myself, I did...Michael's not a Fat Bum.

Way to go...I am encouraged to do the same because it is all about health. Okay, I'd really like to get into those size 10 Levi 501's too, but it's mostly a health thing.

I love the visual of the equipment when you see chocolate. I think that will be very helpful.

I wish you the best, Michael....

Marcia,

That you took a moment to cheer me on makes start the day out right. Yes, its time for health (though many just want to look good). The trouble is I will have to get new clothes when I get done. What a bummer. Your words of encouragement are appreciated.
