Marketing is

You can't understand marketing without understanding the essence of human behavior.  If you  don't understand the human condition and how your business improves on it, then good luck with your business.

A big promise in the marketing message that becomes a lie is not marketing, it is still a lie.

Math + Biology + Art + Psychology + Writing + the five senses + Fortune Telling + Innovation + Persistance + Accounting + Meditation + Commitment + Prayer + Listening + History + Listening Again = Creates the possiblity for effective marketing.

If you would stop and think of each contact as a potential opportunity to "Make their day", marketing would take a different shape.

It is not truly possible to control marketing since people who are fans become the real marketing engine and with new technology, this is even more true. Your goal is to improve the odds.

marketingearAll marketing experts should buy Monster Ear Sound Ampliphiers to know what people are already saying and then adjust their products and services accordingly.

When will you decide that the real power of marketing message is in the fix and not the description?  Companies that sell weight loss or Zit cream get it.

If every small business owner thought of making invitations instead of doing advertising, the personalization would not only improve business but help them make more friends.  Every entrepreneur needs at least 500 very good friends.

When you say you "don't like to do marketing" then you must not like to smile, shake hands, make people feel great about themselves, invite them to an event or show them how to make their lives better.  Sitting in a secret basement to "do marketing" to people you have no contact with is guessing.

Everyone is hungry for something special every moment of the day.  This hunger changes hour to hour but still exists.  This makes marketing sometimes just a matter of timing.  Don't fret if the response is no the first time... they just weren't hungry... yet.  Sell cold drinks to people who are sweating heavily... now that is almost genius.

I love it when people say  "I wish ......"  That is when my ears perk up and the pen/paper are drawn.  When they continue with the wish, they offer the ideal marketing oppoortunity.  the challenge is then in the abilty to deliver quickly.

It is not a coincidence that you are blogging about something another in your network is conversing about. You are listening before you write a blog to have a guaranteed audience of at least one.

Somone is searching for a great place to fish for Salmon in Alaska.  They want the best place, the biggest fish, the place no one else knows about, the most consistent catching opportunity and someone who can show them a new trick or two.  Marketing for this might be "secretive" vs. broadcasting.  Like a secret treasure map.

When you start following marketing "rules" you begin to look just like everyone else.

The biggest advertisement does not guarantee sales nor does being at the top of search engines; but it helps.

If a business had a guaranteed cure for cancer, how would it be advertised?  No one would believe the message of "cure for cancer".  The best marketing would not be in the message, it would be in the results and the testimonials of the cured.

Everything counts and has an impact.  "How do you evaluate everything?  There is not enough time so we will just do the same as we did before."  Expect the same results.

Today you will open the doors and turn on the lights.  You will stand at the front door next to the open sign and appear to be ready for anything.  The marketing message is that you are ready and available.  Do you appear to ready and available?  If not, then people will pass you by.
