Good Content is Not Enough says SEOMoz About Panda

SEOMoz shares deep thoughts about Google Panda during their Whiteboard Friday.  "Good content is not enough" and Panda update has "Changed SEO Best Practices Forever".

The video again emphasizes why people are most important when creating a business whether it be offline or online.  Doing tasks to meet the need of bots has once again created a debacle for those who treat it like a game.

This will leave many Internet marketers on the side of the road.  There will soon be grieving and knashing of teeth as the old ways have less impact in the search engines.

If you are one who is resistant to change and are beginning to grieve, remember the stages:

Grieving has seven stages:

• Shock or Disbelief
• Denial
• Bargaining
• Guilt
• Anger
• Depression
• Acceptance and Hope

The video has you today in shock and disbelief and soon denial will have you testing the premise to see if it is true.  Next you will spend hours searching the Internet looking for coraboration and support to the ideas presented.  Your conversation will turn to "what about..." which is part of the bargaining stage.  At some point you will feel guilty for not spending more time focusing on the people and their experiences while visiting the website.  When you move into the anger stage, you will know because it will be somebody's fault but certainly not your own.  There will be a moping period and you will think "what's the point?"  If Google has made things so difficult by changing the game, maybe it is time to give up.

Acceptance and hope is the final stage and will be recognized when the "ah-ha" moment comes.

Letting go is a part of making progress.  There soon will be talk that Inbound Marketing is dead just as they have said about other forms of advertising.  Inbound marketing will not die as long as people are searching for a solution.  The guerrilla marketing savvy business owner knows this and will continue to create a synergy between offline and online marketing activities.

Don't grieve because of the Google Panda update.  Celebrate that people come first.
