What’s your search engine of choice? Google? Bing? Twitter?! Yes, Twitter. While primarily thought of as a social media site, Twitter has established itself as a major player in the competitive internet search market.
At the Aspen Ideas Festival, Twitter co-founder Biz Stone revealed that the site now handles approximately 24 billion search queries per month, far outpacing Bing’s 4.1 billion and Yahoo’s 9.4 billion. None of the up-and-coming search engines approach Google’s huge 88 billion queries per month, but Twitter’s focus on providing real-time search results gives it a special niche in the market.
