What Did the Doctor Say?

A story from long ago is told below about a husband, a wife and a doctor:

What Did the Doctor Say?The husband and wife were in a doctor's office.

The doctor seemed serious as he asked many questions.  The wife sat quietly just watching and listening.

At the end of the husbands body inspection check- up, he turns to the wife and asks if she could stay behind for a moment:  "Could I chat with you just a moment?"

The wife says:  "Sure I can".

The husband, while puzzled, leaves and heads for the car.

The doctor closes the door and says to the wife:  "Your husband is dying.  He may have at best a year to live.  BUT if you did a few things for him such as relieve his stress, make great home cooked meals, give him back rubs, relieve him of some weekly chores, laugh at his jokes, stay positive... basically give him an environment of low responsibility and high support.... he could easily live another ten years."

The wife just listens to the doctor without much emotion.

Doctor asks; "Do you understand this?"

The wife says;  "Thank you doctor, I do."

The wife now heads down the elevator and to the car where her husband is waiting.

She gets in... and he begins to drive down the road.  After a moment he asks:  "Well.... what did the doctor say?"

She looks at him and says very quietly;

"I so sorry honey... I am so very, very sorry!"  As she give him a hug; "The doctor says you are going to die."

Lights fade.  ........

Hope this gave you a smile... and a thought.  Feel free to share!
